The Korean design magazine ’Monthly Design’ reached out to us with a fun concept design project. The topic was ‘Brand design of a fictional sunscreen for vacations’, and they asked us to freely design in our own approach. We focused on the fact that during vacation seasons, large amounts of sunscreen ends up flowing into the sea, killing coral reefs and marine life. So we decided to create a brand that uses environmentally friendly ingredients and carries the message to think about the environment while having fun on vacations. To reduce excessive use, we proposed a new concept of modular sunscreen where the solid solution is portioned into an amount just enough for single use. Each module is about the size of your thumbnail, and is melted with your hands for application. To give consumers a sense of accomplishment from protecting their environment, we used aesthetic elements found from coral reefs to create five iconic shapes. The packaging is light and easy to travel with, and is made of the environmentally friendly cork material.
